Catalyst Game Labs has once again partnered with Lynnvander Studios, producing the retro arcade-inspired Super Camelot board game, which is scheduled to release in the first quarter.

In Super Camelot, players take on the role of knights of the Round Table, heading out for adventure and seeking the Holy Grail.  Catalyst’s Loren Coleman described the game to ICv2 as, "an over-the-top… world exploration game in the vein of Gauntlet or Zelda...  We are hacking stuff up and grabbing gems and keys and running back to unlock the Holy Grail."  The first player to unlock the Holy Grail, or collect enough gems, wins.

The game features graphics and artwork designed to look like a video game from the Gauntlet era, and includes 16 board tiles, a 3-dimensional castle and 22 3-d bushes, 121 tokens, 6 character standees, 6 character boards, and 51 cards.  Final MSRP has not yet been set, but Coleman indicated that it is expected to be around $40.00.  Super Camelot is intended for 2 to 4 players, ages 14 and up, and takes a little more than half an hour to play.

An expansion that adds components for two additional players is also planned.

Catalyst is funding the production of Super Camelot through a short Kickstarter campaign that, as of this writing, has attracted $15,749 in pledged support from 303 backers (an average of $51.98 per backer) with five days remaining.  The campaign does include a retailer-only backer option for six copies of the game and the expansion, as well as six copies of any unlocked stretch goals.  Backer fulfillment is planned for December, with release into the trade to follow.  The campaign had originally been launched early, during Gen Con, but Catalyst canceled the first campaign and relaunched it on August 14.

Super Camelot is not the first collaboration between Catalyst and Lynnvander. It follows the successful campaign for Shadowrun: Sprawl Ops, releasing in October (see "‘Shadowrun:  Sprawl Ops’ Board Game").
