Studio Ghibli and GKIDS are celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the acclaimed animated feature My Neighbor Totoro with a theatrical event and a collector’s home media release. Chronicle Books has also signed an agreement with Ghibli to release a Studio Ghibli stationary line that begins this fall with two Totoro products.

The My Neighbor Totoro Collector’s 30th Anniversary Edition Set will release from GKID and be distributed by Shout! Factory on December 11. The limited-edition set is packaged in a hard slipcase and includes a 40-page book with art and essays. The deluxe disc portfolio will include a Blu-ray of the movie including hours of special features, and the film’s soundtrack on CD, available for the first time in North America.  Amazon currently lists MSRP at $49.97.

Chronicle Books announced a Studio Ghibli publishing line this week, and its first two releases will be My Neighbor Totoro products in honor of the film’s anniversary.  With the debut of this line in October, Chronicle will be the first official publisher of Studio Ghibli stationery and gift products in North America with distribution in bookstores, gift shops, and national chains. The My Neighbor Totoro Postcards collection includes 30 full-color postcards reproducing frames from the film. MSRP is $12.95. The My Neighbor Totoro: Pop-Up Notecards collection will show five different scenes and then depict a pop-up character from the film when opened. The box contains 10 notecards (2 x 5 designs). MSRP is $14.95. Chronicle will debut additional items in Spring 2019.

GKIDS will host screenings of My Neighbor Totoro as part of its Studio Ghibli Fest 2018 on September 30 and October 1 and 3 at participating theaters. All events include exclusive special content before or after the feature. Screenings are available in both English dubbed and subtitled Japanese versions. The trailer can be seen below.
