The inaugural Anime Fest @ NYCC x Anime Expo ran simultaneously with New York Comic Con but was held at a different venue, slightly less than a mile from the Javits Center (see "Anime Event Paired with NYCC at Pier 94"). Although both shows were run by ReedPop, Anime Fest required a separate badge. All the big manga and anime booths, and about half the manga/anime programming, were at the Javits. Between that and the fact that the other local anime show, AnimeNYC, is just a few weeks away, Anime Fest felt more like a local anime show than a big-time national con. Vendors sold prints, swords, plushies, and discounted manga, but the big publishers were almost entirely absent.
