Comics and graphic novel sales were down 13.61% in November compared to the year ago period, with a four-week month in 2018 comparing unfavorably to a five-week month in 2017 and reversing out the gains from last month (see "Narrow Marvel Share Lead in October"). Comic sales were down 4.98% and graphic novels were down a whopping 30.36% vs. November 2017.
The weak month also took the year-to-date sales negative; comics and graphic novel sales for the first 11 months of the year were down 0.98%, with a 6.67% decline in graphic novels more than offsetting a 1.48% increase in comic sales.
After only a narrow win last month, Marvel Comics was over 14 share points ahead of DC Entertianment in November, with over 40% of all comic dollars sold by the House.
