New York Times-bestselling author Gaby Dunn (I Hate Everyone But You) and artist Claire Roe (Batgirl and the Birds of Prey) will Bury the Lede in an upcoming release from BOOM! Studios. The original graphic novel will be in stores in October 2019.
Dunn draws inspiration from her experience as a reporter for The Boston Globe for Bury the Lede, a murder mystery centered on journalism intern Madison T. Jackson, who barrels headfirst into danger after getting the inside scoop on the socialite accused of murdering her businessman husband and family.
Bury the Lede is the first of a new line of OGNs for adult audiences that BOOM! will release under its eponymous imprint. BOOM! has previously focused mostly on licensed properties and fare for younger readers and young adult audiences, such as Ben 10 (see “BOOM! Announces New 'Ben 10' OGN”), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (see “Preview: First Look at 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' By Dan Mora”), Steven Universe (see “ICv2 Interview: Kaboom!'S Whitney Leopard on the Kids Market and Kaboom!'s Line”), Lumberjanes, and more. Further details on the new slate are pending.
Dunn has experience writing for various outlets, including The New York Times, Cosmopolitan, Vulture, and Marie Claire. She also served as a writer on Netflix’s acclaimed animated series Big Mouth and worked several television projects. She is also the co-creator of the Just Between Us YouTube channel and host and creator of the award-winning Bad Money With Gabby Dunn podcast.
