April showers will bring May trades from Brian Michael Bendis, including two for new series (see “Bendis Reveals Two New Jinxworld Comics”) and a reprint of an all-ages title.

Co-created with artist David Mack and based on a true story, Cover Volume 1 follows a comic creator who is recruited by the intelligence community to live a double life as a spy. The 176-page trade paperback collects issues #1-6 of the series. It’s on sale May 22 for an MSRP of $16.99.

Bendis and artist Michael Gaydos tell the tale of Pearl, an exceptional tattoo artist and accidental assassin for a San Francisco-based Yakuza clan, in Pearl Volume 1 The trade paperback collects the first six issues of the series into 168 pages for an MSRP of $16.99. It will be on sale May 8.

On May 1, DC will release a new edition of Bendis’s all-ages series Takio. Illustrated by Michael Avon Oeming, Takio follows two bickering sisters who become the world’s first real superheroes. Now they just need to learn how to get along long enough to save the world and get home by six so they don’t get grounded. The 216-page trade paperback has an MSRP of $16.99.

Bendis signed with DC in 2018 (see "Marvel’s Top Writer Signs with DC"), and the publisher has been releasing new Jinxworld series, as well as new collections of existing Bendis titles such as Powers and Scarlet (see “More Brian Michael Bendis's Jinxworld Coming from DC”).
