Funko will open a nearly 40,000 square foot store on Hollywood Boulevard later this year, the company announced Wednesday. This marks the second retail location for the company, which opened its first store in its headquarters, Everett, Washington (pictured above). It had previously revealed that it planned to open flagship stores in major markets (see "Funko Looking to Open Flagship Stores in Top Markets").
At nearly 40,000 square feet, the new store will be more than double the size of the first store, and will undoubtedly build upon the experiential qualities that made the first store a destination (see "At Funko’s New Store, Retail’s Future Meets the Pop Culture Present" for images).
The new store clearly has multiple goals, according to the announcement. Not only will it be a physical footprint in the second-largest metro area in the U.S., it will also put Funko in the heart of the entertainment industry, the source of many of its hundreds of licenses. "We couldn’t be more excited to have a presence among the most influential production studios and creative talent delivering pop culture content," Funko CEO Brian Mariotti said of the new store.
The location is part of the Eastown development in East Hollywood, near the Hollywood Pantages Theater and TCL Chinese Theater. Other tenants include SoulCycle and Shake Shack.
