The fourth edition of BESM will be updated by original designer, and Dyskami President, Mark MacKinnon. A line of expansions and supplements to support the RPG are planned for future years. The cover for BESM Fourth Edition will be provided by long-time BESM artists Niko Geyer. Interior art will be provided by Shilin, Zirong, Zearyu, and Geyer, among others.
“It’s been well over a decade since I wrote the third edition of BESM, and having the chance to once again produce the game that means so much to me is a dream come true,” said MacKinnon. “The fourth edition has been under development for many years and is an opportunity to re-envision an entire new game line, updating both the design and presentation of BESM for today’s gamers yet hearkens back to the roots of earlier editions. Furthermore, we’ll be expanding our relationship with Japanime Games to co-publish the BESM relaunch and provide exceptional customer service and support. What a year 2019 is going to be for anime and gaming fans!”
Japanime and Dyskami announced their distribution partnership last week (see “Japanime Games Partners with Dyskami Publishing”).
BESM was first released by Guardians of Order in 1997. It has been nominated for many RPG awards over the past 20 years. GoO shut down in 2006 (see “Guardians of Order Products to Find Home”) and White Wolf’s sister company ArtHaus purchased BESM and released the Third Edition in 2007 (see “ArtHaus Acquires 'BESM 3rd Edition'”).
