Olivia Jaimes, the first woman to write and illustrate Nancy, took over the daily strip in 2018. Her hip, quirky take on the character quickly found fans among the geekerati, eliciting praise from outlets including the New York Times, Washington Post, and NPR and reviving interest in the strip.
Originally debuting in 1933 in the strip Fritzi Ritz, Nancy was the eight-year old niece to the strip’s title character. Nancy would go on to run in over 880 newspapers at its peak.
