IDW Publishing has announced the September publication of a new ongoing G.I. Joe comic book series written by Paul Allor and drawn by Chris Evenhuis. The new series, which will be known simply as G.I. Joe will find the Joe Team in a new role as insurgents in a country completely controlled by Cobra. The stand-alone “insurgent” storyline is designed to hook new readers as well as to appeal to old school Joe fans with its “fighting for freedom” storyline.
