Iello has announced two martial arts-themed titles for September release:  Ninja Academy and the 8Bit Box:  Double Rumble module.

In Ninja Academy, the players are would-be ninjas who must prove that they have mastered their ninja skills better than their competitors.  To prove they are worthy, they compete in a series of matches, alternating between collective trials against everyone and one-on-one duels.  The actual challenges are determined by card draw, and can include things like being the first to balance a ninja meeple on each of their fingertips or trying to guess the number of ninjas in a box.

The game comes with 10 ninja meeples, 10 logs, 24 large cards, 5 small cards, and 38 tokens.  Ninja Academy is intended for 3 to 5 players, ages 8 and up, and takes about 20 minutes to play.  MSRP is $14.99.

8Bit Box:  Double Rumble is a new “cartridge” for Iello’s 8Bit Box “board game console” (see “Iello Introduces the ‘Board Game Console’”), which uses a pool of common components to support a series of independent games.  Double Rumble takes its cue from classic arcade fighting games, with the players squaring off against the “bad guys” of a street gang, ultimately taking on the gang boss.  It can be played solo or cooperatively by two players.

Double Rumble includes 99 cards, 1 battle board, 6 fighter tiles, and 6 tokens.  The 8Bit Box base game is needed to play.  For 1 or 2 players, ages 10 and up, the game takes about 45 minutes.  MSRP is $15.99.

Last month, Iello released a new Monster Pack for its popular King of Tokyo / King of New York games (see “‘Cybertooth’ Brings Berserk to ‘King of Tokyo,’ ‘King of New York’”).
