Oni Press will launch a series of graphic novels featuring the Sanrio character Gudetama, the first venture in the companies' new licensing relationship, in 2020, Oni announced. The character, which translates as "lazy egg," but might more accurately be described as "depressed egg," has been blowing up in Asia but has never before been featured in a comic.
Gudetama: Love for the Lazy, the first graphic novel in a series of Gudetama’s Comics Guides, will be released in February, one of at least three volumes planned for 2020. Written and drawn by Wook-Jin Clark, Gudetama: Love for the Lazy will be targeted at young adults and provide relationship advice from the genderless character, such as setting up an online dating profile or selecting a first date outfit.
