Fantasy Flight Games will release the Legend of the Five Rings: Clan War premium expansion for Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game in Q1 2020.
Clan War introduces two new ways to enjoy games of Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game with multiple players. The "Enlightenment" format has players racing to claim all five elemental rings, with rings being able to be collected or stolen as the game progresses. The "Team Conquest" format brings team play to the game in two versus two battles. Game play progresses as normal, but players share resources as they attack and defend as a team.
The premium expansion includes 234 cards, with cards for every clans and a number of neutral cards that can be used with any clan. Along with the new cards for the clans of Rokugan, Clan Wars includes a treaty pad and treaty cards. The treaty pad formalizes alliances between players during games, and details how much honor a player would lose should the treaty be broken. Treaty cards, a new card type, are an optional addition that add an unpredictable game experience to the use of treaties in Enlightenment games.
Legend of the Five Rings: Clan Wars will retail for $39.95. A copy of the Core Set is required to play.
Fantasy Flight Games released the first premium expansion earlier this year (see "First ‘Premium Expansion’ for ‘L5R’").
