Paradox Interactive, owners of the World of Darkness intellectual property, has licensed Hunters Entertainment to develop and publish Werewolf: The Apocalypse 5th Edition, which it will do through Renegade Games, the company announced.
The new Werewolf: The Apocalypse roleplaying game is the second RPG licensed for World of Darkness; after developing the game in house, Paradox licensed Modiphius to publish Vampire: The Masquerade 5E (see "Slate of New ‘Vampire: The Masquerade 5E’ Products Set").
Renegade was licensed to create an expandable card game based on Vampire: The Masquerade; release is planned for 2020 (see "Renegade to Release ‘Vampire: The Masquerade – The Expandable Card Game’").
Players in Werewolf: The Apocalypse will play as Garou, individuals born both of the material and spirit worlds that can shapeshift into wolves at will. Different Garou tribes have tried varying ideologies and goals, but have so far been unsuccessful at rescuing a dying Gaia, their spiritual mother.
Renegade will release Werewolf: The Apocalypse in 2021.
Hunters Entertainment has worked with Renegade on other titles, including Kids on Bikes (see "Renegade and Hunters Reveal ‘Strange Adventures! Volume 2") and Altered Carbon.
