Vault Comics' horror imprint Nightfall will return in September 2020 with a new series, The Autumnal, by the creative team of writer Daniel Kraus, artist Chris Shehan, colorist Jason Wordie, and letterer Jim Campbell. Kraus is the co-author, with director Guillermo del Toro, of The Shape of Water, which they conceived as both a film and a novel, and Trollhunters, which was adapted into a television series by Netflix. Although Kraus is a best-selling author, with 10 novels to his credit, this is his first comic.
The Autumnal is set in the tiny town of Comfort Notch, New Hampshire, where a mother and daughter have just moved from Chicago, only to learn that small country towns can have problems of their own; in this case, it's a forest creature who uses fallen leaves as stepping stones. The first issue is scheduled for September 2020 and will have two variant covers, both by Nathan Gooden and Tim Daniel.
Nightfall is Vault's annual horror imprint, which is published from September through December each year.
