BOOM! Studios continues its publishing program around Firefly with an up-price one-shot and a second big hardcover colleciton, with new content, this fall, as the ongoing series continues.

The one-shot, Firefly: River Run #1, will be priced at $7.99, with an extra-long page count.  Written by David S. Booher (Canto) with art by Andres Genolet (Runaways), it tells the story of how Dr. Simon Tam saved his only sister, River, from the Hands-Of-Blue, and what happened to River in the Alliance Academy facility. 

Covers (three in Gallery below) will include a Main Cover by Christian Ward, Variant Cover by Adam Gorham, Foil C1 Variant by  Christian Ward, Foil C2 Variant by Adam Gorham, Incentive Cover by Adam Gorham, Incentive Cover by Christian Ward, and Incentive Cover by Adam Gorham.

BOOM! will collect the entire second year of Firefly, the comics series spun off from Joss Whedon’s short-lived TV show, in a deluxe hardcover edition. Firefly: Blue Sun Rising Deluxe Edition will include Firefly #13-24, The Outlaw Ma Reynolds, and Firefly: Blue Sun Rising #0-1, along with a new ten-page story that is exclusive to this collection. The 448-page hardcover, which has a similar look to the first Firefly deluxe edition (see “BOOM! Studios Collects Joss Whedon’s ‘Firefly’ Stories Into Single Volume Hardcover”), will go on sale on November 24 with an MSRP of $75.00. 

In this second volume, Mal Reynolds, the captain of the spaceship Serenity, has a new second job: Sheriff of the Georgia Sector. In order to protect his mother, the outlaw Ma Reynolds, he has to capture her before anyone else does, which causes a split with the rest of the crew, but when a new threat emerges, they all have to pull together once more. Greg Pak is the writer for the series, and the artists are Dan McDaid, Lalit Kumar Sharma, Daniel Bayliss, Ramon Bachs, Davide Gianfelice, George Kambadais, and cover artist Marie Krupina.
