Fog of Love was originally brought to trade by Hush Hush Projects in 2019, and was previously available as a Walmart online exclusive prior (see "'Fog of Love'"). Since its release, there have been three content expansions for the game: It Will Never Last, Paranormal Romance, and Trouble with The In-Laws. Floodgate plans to reprint the core game and add new expansions exploring the quirks and difficulties of romance.

Floodgate will create a new full expansion that revolves around queer and transgender stories, and they will also release another new expansion called Love on Lockdown. This expansion is inspired by the events of 2020, which made finding and carrying on romantic entanglements challenging for several people due to the nature of the COVID-19 pandemic.
