TCGplayer has acquired Roca Robotics Inc., makers of the Roca Sorter for TCGs.

TCGplayer continues to add to its portfolio of innovative technology with the acquisition of this start-up robotics company. Roca Robotics created the Roca Sorter in 2018 as a way of helping game store owners sort inventory quicker and with accuracy. Roca Sorter v2.0 hit stores in 2019, and has processed over millions of cards since then.

This machine has the ability to identify and sort cards from a catalog of more than 100,000 unique items, and allows retailers to quickly sort cards by name, set or rarity, apply online pricing information, and organize the items into inventory. The Roca Sorter can recognize cards in different languages, with alternate art, foiling, and can match set symbols with more than 99% accuracy. It also can autonomously sort and index 1,000 cards in just two hours.

"TCGplayer is guided by a commitment to building tools that empower small- and mid-sized businesses and enable them to grow," said Chedy Hampson, founder and CEO of TCGplayer. "Together, Roca and TCGplayer will build on this commitment and enhance our ability to serve our retail customers, prioritizing innovation at every step. "

Roca Robotics will operate as a subsidiary of TCGplayer, and TCGplayer will retain CEO Kevin Lipkin as the head of Roca Robotics.

TCGplayer also recently added Savneet Singh, CEO of a restaurant POS software company, to its Board of Directors (see " TCGplayer Adds Board Member").
