Brazil: Imperial introduces the concept of a Euro X game, which is a euro game combined with a 4X game. A 4X game is a subgenre of strategy-based games where players explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate. This game is set in Brazil between the 16th and 19th centuries, and players assume the roles of a monarch trying to create a prosperous nation and advance it through three eras. Players will use their military units to explore and defend their territory while they renovate cities, farms, and mines. They will also produce trade resources and acquire the support of Brazil's historical figures to gain special abilities.
This game is played on a modular map which can be set up for eight different scenarios. Brazil: Imperial is for one to four players, ages 14 and up and plays in 100 minutes.
Portal Games announced Thorgal: The Board Game, a new cooperative storybook adventure game (see "'Thorgal: The Board Game'").
