This CGC 8.0 copied is tied for highest graded copy of Superman #1 certified by CGC, and is part of Edgar Church/Mile High pedigree, which is an 18,000-book collection of pre-1955 comics in high grade condition (see "Last Mile High Comics"). The $5.3 million sale puts Superman #1 ahead of Amazing Fantasy #15 at $3.6 million (see "Marvel's 'Amazing Fantasy #15' "), Action Comics #1 that sold on ComicConnect for $3.25 million, another Action Comics #1 that sold for $3.2 million in 2014 (see “The First $3 Million Dollar Comic!”), and the more recent sale of a CGC NM 9.4 Captain America Comics #1 from the San Francisco Pedigree at $3.12 million (see "'Captain America Comics' #1").

Certified Guaranty Company announced that the Edgar Church/Mile High 8.0 copy of Superman #1 (1939) changed hands in a private sale for $5.3 million back in January 2022.
