Dynamite is bringing back its Savage Tales anthology with a new one-shot containing four stories featuring Red Sonja, Vampirella, and two new classic characters, Alan Quatermain and Captain Gullivar Jones:

“The Executioner’s Sword,” by writer Scott Brian Wilson and artist Al Barrionuevo, is a Red Sonja story that mixes swordcraft and magic.

“Missionaries of Madness,” by writer David Avallone and artist Will Rio, sends Alan Quatermain, armed only with a rifle and his wits, off to fight a Cthulhu-worshipping cult.

“Horrible People Doing Horrible Things to Horrible People,” by Wilson and Kubert School artist Mariano Benitez Chapo, brings Vampirella back to her Warren Publishing-era roots for a morality tale with a classic look.

In “His War,” by Avallone and another Kubert artist, Hamish Cook, Captain Gullivar Jones (see “‘Warriors of Mars’”) is back from Mars and locked in another, deeper struggle.

Savage Tales #1 will be released in July with a main cover by Arthur Suydam that is an homage to his cover for the first issue of Savage Tales and two variant covers, one by Liam Sharp and one by Rafael Kayanan. MSRP is $4.99.
