Warlord Games has announced the release of the iconic Japanese naval fighter for its Blood Red Skies air combat game with the launch of the Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero Squadron.

The Mitsubishi Zero, or Reisen as it was known to its pilots, was a highly maneuverable and effective aircraft that would become the most famous Japanese fighter plane of World War II.  This carrier-based plane would prove a major obstacle to the Allies in the Pacific, especially during the early war period.

Fans of Warlord’s Blood Red Skies can now add this iconic fighter to their battles with this model kit, which includes six resin models with flying bases, eight cards and game tokens for use with the game, and a set of aircraft marking decals.

Warlord has also announced other fighter squadrons from the Pacific War, including the F4U Corsair Squadron, the Grumman F4F Wildcat Squadron, the Mitsubishi J2M Raiden ‘Jack’ Squadron, and the Kawanishi N1K2 Shiden-kai ‘George’ Squadron.  All models are 1/200 scale and come unassembled and unpainted.  MSRP is $45.00 per set.

Blood Red Skies is Warlord’s World War II aerial combat game, launched in 2017.  It is intended to be a fast-paced game of battles between large groups of fighter aircraft, using a card-based system that allows players to recreate the historical attributes of their planes, pilots, and tactical doctrines.

Earlier this year, Warlord announced Bolt Action:  Combined Arms, which allows players to create modular campaigns using Blood Red Skies and other WWII Warlord Games titles (see “Battle Through the Campaigns of WWII in ‘Bolt Action:  Combined Arms’”).
