Marvel’s new limited series Wakanda is set in the world of Black Panther but the focus is on the rest of the cast: The series takes its cue from John Ridley’s run on Black Panther, with T’Challa in exile and Wakanda left without its king. Each of the five issues will have a different creative team and will focus on a single character as they attempt to safeguard their nation. In addition, each issue will have a “History of the Black Panthers” backup story by writer Evan Narcisse and artist Natacha Bustos.

The first issue of Wakanda will be out on October 12 with a lead story about Shuri, T’Challa’s younger sister. Writer Stephanie Williams and artist Paco Medina will be the creative team for the lead story, and the issue will have a main cover by Mateus Manhanini and variant covers by Nic Klein and Stanley “Artgerm” Lau.
