Marvel SVP – Print Sales and Marketing David Gabriel and EIC C.B. Cebulski made the announcement during the Diamond Retailer Panel at Comic-Con. The character Taegukgi was introduced by writer Jed MacKay in the miniseries Taskmaster (see “Marvel Plans Three Black Widow-Tied #1s in April”) and, Gabriel said, became an “overnight success,” with retailers asking for variant covers featuring him, so Marvel decided to create a team of “Korean Avengers.” Although the series will start in Korea, it will have “ripple effects throughout the Marvel Universe,” Cebulski said.
