Cosmic Ghost Rider will return in March 2023 in a new series penned by Stephanie Phillips, with art by Juann Cabal. The new series finds Frank Castle retired and living a quiet existence in a far corner of the universe, until he gets word of a murderous bounty hunter who is using Cosmic Ghost Rider as his alias. Castle has no alternative but to suit up and face down this menacing doppleganger. Cosmic Ghost Rider #1 will go on sale on March 1 with a cover by Valerio Giangiordano.

Cosmic Ghost Rider will be one of Phillips’ first comics for Marvel; she will also be writing Rogue & Gambit, another March debut (see “Marvel Announces Three New Titles”). Her other work includes Harley Quinn and Wonder Woman: Evolution for DC, as well as the true-crime series The Butcher of Paris, published by Dark Horse. Cabal was one of the 2020 Marvel Stormbreakers, an elite group of emerging artists selected by the publisher for high-profile titles (see “Marvel Unveils 2020 ‘Stormbreakers’”).

Created in 2018 by Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw, Cosmic Ghost Rider is an alternate version of Frank Castle who first appeared in Thanos #13 and was so popular he got an ongoing series that year and a crossover limited series in 2019 (see “Cosmic Ghost Rider Will Destroy Marvel History This Month”). He has been featured in several other limited series since then.
