Steamforged Games acquired the Kinghill IP and board game from its creator Petr Marek and Czech-studio Purple Dragon.

Kinghill was crowdfunded in 2021, raising $40,449 from 962 backers (about $42 a backer). In this fantasy card dueling game with worker placement mechanics, players are tasked with raising an army and leading them into battle to regain a mighty artifact. They will train their workers, gather valuable resources, and recruit legendary heroes all in an effort to take down their opponent's castle. The game is for one to two players, ages 13 and up, and plays in 90 minutes.

“I had followed the initial Kinghill Kickstarter campaign and was incredibly impressed with the game concept and beautifully designed components," said Rich Loxam, SFG Founder and CEO. "When it became clear there was an opportunity to acquire the IP we leapt at the chance to take it under the Steamforged Games umbrella. We want to take Kinghill to a wider audience and share what we love about the game and get people playing."

SFG will continue to develop the game line alongside Marek and Purple Dragon into the future. The Kickstarter fulfillment for this game will finish up in March 2023, and SFG will offer up the remaining Kickstarter copies on its website. No word on when this game is coming to U.S. retail.

Steamforged Games will also release Epic Encounters: Nest of the Dinosaur, a new miniatures encounter set (see "'Nest of the Dinosaur'").
