The Hollywood news keeps hitting the wire, so here's a brand-new round-up!

Paramount+ has greenlit Star Trek: Section 31, an event feature starring Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh according to Variety.  Originally planned as a series, the project, which revolves around Yeoh’s Philippa Georgiou character and her role in Starfleet’s black ops division, has been in the works since 2019 (see "Michele Yeoh's 'Star Trek' Deets").  Production will begin later in 2023.

Paramount+ also released a teaser for the second season of Star Trek: Strange New World (see below).  The new season, which begins streaming on June 13, 2023, will feature a crossover episode between Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks (see "'Star Trek' Series").

James Gunn recently revealed via his Twitter account (see below) that Jimmy Olsen will be in his upcoming Superman: Legacy movie.  Superman's best friend has been through a number of on-screen iterations, ranging from Marc Mclure's portrayal of the character in Richard Donner's Superman to the Black animated Jimmy Olsen in the upcoming  My Adventures with Superman (see "The Issue with Superman"). Thus far, there has been no word on what route Gunn will take writing the character.

Amazon Studios is looking at reboots for various MGM properties that they recently acquired (see "Another Deal on Media Merger Monday"), according to Deadline.  Both Robocop and Stargate are on the short list for film and TV reboots.  Also, the Pink Panther may get a new animated movie.

The American Born Chinese live action series will debut on Disney+ on May 24, the streamer announced.  The series, which stars Ke Huy Quan, Michelle Yeoh, and others. began production in April 2022 (see "‘American Born Chinese’ Starts Production").  It’s based on the award-winning original graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang (see "Interview with Gene Luen Yang").

Warner Bros. released a new teaser for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (see below).  This movie hits theaters on March 15, 2024 (see "Best in Shows -- 2024").
