Titan Comics will publish a new comic series, Blitmap, based on the digital collectibles of the same name and printed in such a way that every cover will be unique. In addition, every issue will be blind-bagged so each cover gets its own reveal.

Blitmap started out as a set of collectible NFTs devised by Dom Hoffmann, best known as the creator of the Vine video-sharing platform. The initial set was a series of 100 digital images that users combined in different ways to create 1,600 more. The NFTs now have their own storyline, with sentient robots called Blitnauts protecting the valuable Blitmaps from their enemies the Logos. The community of Blitmap collectors gets to vote on different aspects of the Blitmap universe, which has a solarpunk aesthetic.

The comics, which incorporate this storyline and universe, are written by Jack Timmer with art by Matias Basla, whose work includes Sparrowhawk and The Dark Crystal: The Age of Resistance (see “‘Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’ Comic”). Thanks to a novel printing process, every comic will have a slightly different cover that was created by mixing and matching three different designs. Titan will release the first issue on August 30, 2023.
