WotC is hoping to ride Bill the Pony and his Middle-earth pals to greater profits in the holiday season with the The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Special Edition release. The second wave of this set contains no Serialized Ring Cards, which are found in the first wave (see "'The Lord of the Rings' Set"). Instead, this wave features a new Scene Box product configuration as well as more Collector and Jumpstart boosters. There will also be a new type of foil card treatment include in this Special Edition.
The product line is as follows:
The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Special Edition Collector Booster Packs and Displays. These Collector Booster Boxes include 12 Collector Boosters with each Collector Booster featuring 15 Magic: The Gathering cards. Packs come with 5 cards of rarity Rare or higher, 5 uncommons, 4 commons, and a land card. These boosters contain no serialized Ring cards, but they introduce a new type of foil treatment card. Packs contain 5 to 6 cards with the new foil treatment.
The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Special Edition Jumpstart Vol. 2 Booster Packs and Displays. These packs contain 20 Magic cards that are all based on a specific constructed deck theme. Two Jumpstart packs can be shuffled together to make a deck. Each pack has 2 rare cards and 2 traditional foil land cards. The second volume has different constructed themes than the first volume.
The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Scene Box. The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Scene Boxes come with 6 traditional foil Borderless Scene Cards, 6 Art cards, 3 Set Boosters, and a paper display easel.
