Actor Woody McClain has struck a deal with the Black-owned Godhood Comics to publish his spy thriller series The Brotherhood, which will launch later this year. The series will be co-written with DC Milestone Initiative writer Dorado Quick, with art by Illustrabox studio. The story centers on a young man who is unknowingly drawn into a secret society of Black men who have been protecting Black Americans for decades.

Quick contributed to DC’s Black History Month 2023 anthology DC Power: A Celebration (see “DC Rolls Out New Milestone Titles to Celebrate 30th Anniversary”). “This is what the Milestone Initiative prepared me for,” he said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “To not only build on established characters but to create and develop new worlds as well.”

Nicholas Maye, producer of the Oscar-winning short film Two Distant Strangers, will be editing the comic together with Godhood Comics founder Tyler F. Martin. Martin is the creator of the comic series The Antagonists, which will be distributed by Diamond starting in August and is being developed for TV, according to Deadline.
