The Spiel des Jahres jury announced the winners for the 2023 awards season. Games from Pegasus Spiele and Libellud/Space Cow took the top two laurels: Dorfromantik won the coveted Spiel des Jahres (Game of the Year) award (see "'Dorfromantik'") and Challengers by 1 More Time Games and Z-Man Games (see "'Challengers'") won the Kennerspiel des Jahres (Expert Game of the Year). Z-Man Games has already announced Challengers! 2, the sequel and expansion to this game (see "'Challengers! 2'"). The nominees for these awards were announced in May 2023 (see "Spiel des Jahres 2023 Nominees Announced").

The award for the top children's game, the Kinderspiel des Jahres, went to Mysterium Kids (see "'Mysterium Kids"). In all, Asmodee distributed games (Challengers and Mysterium Kids) took two of the three Spiel des Jahres awards.
