Scott Kurtz, creator of the webcomics PvP and Table Titans, is branching out in a new direction with his middle-grade graphic novel Table Titans Club, which follows the fortunes of a group of middle schoolers who are out to save their Dungeons & Dragons club. The characters in the new story are younger versions of the Table Titans characters, including lead character Val and her gaming companions Alan, Andrew, and Darius, and like Table Titans, the graphic novel will follow their adventures both in-game and in real life. The book, which is aimed at ages 8-12, will be published by Holiday House on March 5, 2024, in two editions, a hardcover with an MSRP of $22.99 and a paperback with an MSRP of $13.99.
Kurtz has won both an Eisner and a Harvey award for PvP, and in addition to making comics about games, he also creates them. He wrote the D&D adventure Mines of Madness and has contributed artwork to a number of other games (see “Renegade Doubles Down on ‘Bargain Quest’” and “‘Pathfinder RPG’ Designer Unveils New Board Game”).
