Catalyst Game Labs offered up a first look at their new Shadowrun: Takedown board game at Gen Con 2023.
In this game, players become runners for the megacorporations that perform covert ops. It is a campaign style game where the corps hire the players crew to go on missions, complete them, and try to achieve legendary status. As the campaign goes on, players can evolve their runner to improve their hacking, sneaking, or brawling. They can also pick up gear to augment their abilities, cyberware to enhance their physical attributes and get magic upgrades. One player will also take on the Mastermind role, a runner who keeps an eye on it all and grants special bonuses to players during missions.
This cooperative game is for one to four players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 60 minutes. It is currently on Kickstarter; fully-funded at $68,724 with 628 backers (about $109 per backer). This Kickstarter includes a retail tier.
Catalyst Game Labs will release two Shadowrun: Edge Zone decks into retail (see "Two New 'Shadowrun: Edge Zone' Decks").
