Dark Horse Comics has announced a new graphic novel by music video producer Jay Martin, the day his first graphic novel Lost Boy, went on sale in bookstores.
The new graphic novel, Yellow, is set in an alternate future in which the Second American Civil War is raging and follows a wounded soldier, Nick Carson, on his trek across a country marked by war. With the power plants destroyed, cities lie in darkness, and law and order have broken down, but Carson, who has been condemned to death, knows his only hope of survival is to navigate this wasteland. Like Lost Boy, Yellow is written, drawn, and colored by Martin, with lettering by Frank Cvetkovic. Dark Horse will release the 208-page hardcover on May 14, 2024, in bookstores and May 15, 2024, in comic shops with an MSRP of $24.99.
Lost Boy has a similar theme, with a young boy who is the sole survivor of a car accident making his way across the Wyoming wilderness.
Martin is the creator of the syndicated comic strip Tommy, which was picked up in 1996-97 by United Features Syndicate. After that he moved into films, where he was the storyboard artist for Constantine, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. He wrote and directed the 2015 feature film 7 Minutes and was executive producer of the 2019 film Don’t Let Go. He has also directed music videos for Death Cab for Cutie, Kelly Clarkson, and Melissa Etheridge.
