Charles Dunn took home the title with a Briar, Warden of Thorns deck after a three day competition. The event featured an $70,000 plus prize pool. Dunn walked off with $10,000, a Gold Foil Legendary Black Envelope, a 2023 World Championship invite, and a trophy. This also gave Briar Living Legend status, which essentially retires the hero from the Classic Constructed format.
“Briar finally crosses the threshold to Living Legend, but perhaps in a way least expected," said LSS founder James White. "Known throughout her existence as a premium aggressive deck, the first incarnation being the 'Cheerios' build that played all 0 cost cards and introduced the concept of a pitchless strategy made famous by Tariq Patel by winning the 2021 US National Championship."
The event drew over 1,000 people and boasted over 3,000 event entries. There was also a Calling Las Vegas, which was won by Yuki Lee Bender with a Lexi, Livewire deck. She took home a Gold Foil Extended Art Crown of Providence, a Pro invite, and $5,000 in prize money.
The 2023 Flesh and Blood TCG World Championship will take place at Fira Montjuic, Pabellon Centenario, Av. de la Reina Maria Cristina in Barcelona, Spain from November 16-19, 2023 (see "'Flesh and Blood TCG' World Championship").
