Renegade Games has placed Scholars of the South Tigris, a new standalone game for the South Tigris trilogy from Garphill Games, onto preorder with an expected release date of November 2023.
The new South Tigris game (see "South Tigris") is set during the height of the Abbasid Caliphate, around 830 AD, where the Caliph has summoned the players to acquire scientific manuscripts. In this game, players will increase their influence in the House of Wisdom as well as hire linguists to translate the foreign scrolls into Arabic. The mechanics for this game are a combination of bag building, dice placement, color mixing, and "workers for mitigation." The players can tackle six research packs and a variety of scrolls to translate, which increases the replayability of this game. It also offers a solo mode.
This game is for one to four players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 60 to 90 minutes. It will retail for $65.00.
