Indy RPG publisher Gooey Cube has teamed up with Luke Gygax, the son of Dungeons & Dragons co-creator Gary Gygax, and GaxxWorx to produce The Tomb of Gyzaengaxx adventure and campaign setting.

Designed to work with 5E D&D and OSE as well as similar systems, The Tomb of Gyzaengaxx is a broad adventure intended to pay homage to Gary Gygax.  The story revolves around the long-ago disappearance of the archmage Garold Gyzaengaxx and the players’ efforts to explore his abandoned tower in the Mithril Mountains.  The adventure features numerous allusions to events in the history of tabletop role-playing and non-player characters inspired by some of the luminaries in the hobby’s past.

The adventure is designed to combine a dark setting with lampoon humor, and can be used in any fantasy setting.  It is presented through a 60-page adventure book, a 60-page Game Master Reference book, and a variety of hand-outs and playing aids including NPC portraits, maps, three dozen art handouts, and a deck of magic item cards.

In addition to the main adventure, Gooey Cube will produce The Tomb of Gyzaengaxx Campaign Setting boxed set, which expands the ideas of the adventure to create a complete fantasy setting, with an adventure book, GM reference book, and lore book, plus more NPC portraits, maps, handouts, and cards.

Gooey Cube is raising funds to produce The Tomb of Gyzaengaxx through a Kickstarter campaign that has raised $439,216 from 2,129 backers as of this writing (an average of $202.30 per backer).  Backer fulfillment is scheduled for January 2025.

Last year, GaxxWorx launched the third part of Luke Gygax’s Oculus of Senrahbah trilogy (see “The Final Installment of Luke Gygax’s Oculus of Senrahbah Series Launches on Kickstarter”).
