Dark Horse Comics will launch Paranoid Gardens, a new comic series written by Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance and Umbrella Academy) and Shaun Simon, who have previously collaborated on an Umbrella Academy series, among others, the company announced. It will feature art by Chris Weston and colors by Dave Stewart.
The story follows a nurse in a bizarre care center where the staff is inhuman and the patients are aliens, ghosts, superheroes and other creatures. She faces theme park cults, corrupt staff, and her own demons and trauma as she tries to respond to what she believes is a higher calling.
The first issue will be released July 17 at $4.99, with a die-cut Weston cover and a variant by Motohiro Hayakawa. Variants on subsequent issues will be by Glenn Fabry, James Stokoe, Tradd Moore, Alice Darrow, and David Mack.
