The Japanese hero Ultraman will cross over into the Marvel universe for the first time in Ultraman x Avengers, a four-issue miniseries by writers Kyle Higgins and Mat Groom and artist Francesco Manna. After Spider-Man disappears from New York and an alien invader shows up, Ultraman and the Avengers team up to find out what’s going on and how to stop it. The first issue will be released on August 14, 2024, with a cover by Dike Ruan.

“This is the first time Ultraman will meet the Avengers, despite them having so much in common – both being created in the 1960s, both being arguably the most popular and successful super heroes from their respective countries of origin,” said Groom and Higgins in a statement accompanying the announcement.

Groom revealed an Ultraman/Marvel crossover at Anime Expo in 2022 (see “Marvel Heroes to Team Up with Ultraman”), saying the stories would be set in the current Ultraman continuity and that Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, and Iron Man would make appearances.
