Longtime The Comics Journal contributor Tucker Stone has joined Fantagraphics Books in a full-time role as Executive Director of Communications & Marketing, the company announced. Jacq Cohen, who previously held that role, resigned to take a new position at webtoon platform Tapas (see "Jacq Cohen to Tapas").
Stone was a partner in the highly visible Brooklyn store Bergen Street Comics (see "Retailers Talk new Comics Customers"), and also spent time at Nobrow, Consortium Book Sales & Distribution, and, most recently, at TOON Books. As an editor of the TCJ online, he won an Eisner Award in 2018 (see "’2018 Eisner Awards’").
"I've known Tucker for 15 years, since he was a managing partner of Bergen St. Comics, which hosted many a Fantagraphics event in its heyday, Fantagraphics Vice President Eric Reynolds said in a statement accompanying the announcement. "I've watched him carve a career in comics that not only covers virtually every facet of the industry -- retailing, publishing, distribution, editorial, marketing, etc. -- but also do so with integrity and a sincere love for the medium and desire to make comics better."
