In Snails, by Damian Stankowski, players take command of squads of mollusks in a pitched battle over the Gastropodia Islands. The squads are led into battle by a leader, which boosts their troops with special abilities and enhancements. Battles take place on 12 islands that will get destroyed in the process and reveal new gear and traps as each island sinks. The primary mechanics that drive this game are action selection and hand management. Players will have to play out their strategy carefully to show the other mollusks who rules the archipelago.
This game features illustrations by “Djib” Reynaud, a world-famous French illustrator, and Agniezka Sikora. It is for two to four players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 45-90 minutes.
Ares Games also recently unveiled Aeterna, a new historical-themed game by Martin Wallace (see "'Aeterna'").
