Steve Rude's Comictopia crowdfunding campaign for Nexus: Battle for Thuneworld includes a tier that allows pledgers to buy one book for themselves and have one sent to the troops via ComicBooks for Troops, a 501(c)3 charity that brings comics to deployed service members.
Battle for Thuneworld is the first time Rude has both written and drawn a Nexus series. This 144-page, 9"x12" volume collects the five-issue series released this year (see "Rude Writes and Draws New Nexus Series").
Nexus was co-created by Rude and Mike Baron, who previously ran a Kickstarter for Nexus: Scourge with a similar offer (see "Baron's 'Nexus: Scourge' Kickstarter"). Each now works on separate projects with the franchise.
The crowdfunding campaign will end on August 8, 2024, and the books are promised to be delivered in early November. The title will be listed for preorder in Previews in September, with a late November delivery through comic shops. There are three cover options, with one exclusive to the crowdfunder audience. The campaign has exceeded its goal of $10,000 as of this writing, although only a handful of pledgers have chosen the ComicBooks for Troops option.
