Steamforged Games announced a crowdfunding campaign to relaunch P3 Paints under their banner.

SFG recently acquired Formula P3 paints, alongside Warmachine and Iron Kingdoms, from Privateer Press (see "Steamforged Acquires the 'Warmachine'").  They are now looking to rebrand and redevelop the line as P3 Paints, funding the production of a new range via a Kickstarter campaign.

“P3 paints were originally formulated to stay wet for longer, allowing painters to wet blend colors more smoothly on models," said Mat Hart about the P3 paint line. "In the 18 years since the original formula was launched, paint technology has evolved significantly, as have the expectations of a painting audience that’s blessed with plenty of options."

In the redevelopment of the P3 formula by SFG designers, they are looking to push the pigment load of each paint type further in order to produce vibrant colors when applied to miniatures. The goal is to develop a layer of color saturation that other technical paints and washes can augment as they are applied in highlight layers.

“Once we’d established the baseline behavior of the formula, we then focused on each paint individually to ensure every color performs consistently off the brush, including our brand new metallics," continued Hart. " The new formula delivers serious shine and lets the paints cover easily straight from the pot, but can also be diluted down for maximum control."

The Kickstarter for the P3 Paints line will feature new colors that have not been released before. The campaign will launch on September 13, 2024.
