The expansion adds new components and new ways to build up a hiveship to the base game (see "'Apiary'"). These components come in the form of 7 new hive mats, 15 unique frames, and 15 new seed cards. It also includes a greater variety of tiles and tokens as well as a few updated components. The components included in this expansion are designed to fit into the original insert.

This expansion, plus the base game, supports one to five players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 60-90 minutes.

Stonemaier Games also recently announced Rolling Realms Redux, an all-new stand-alone but compatible follow-up to the 2021 roll-and-write game (see "'Rolling Realms Redux'").
