DK has announced a new edition of their perennially popular Marvel Encyclopedia, adding new characters and events that have entered the canon since the last time the book was revised in 2019. A deluxe Collector’s Edition is also in the works.
Marvel Encyclopedia, by Alan Cowsill, Melanie Scott, and James Hill, is a comprehensive guide to the Marvel Comics universe with information on over 1,200 characters and in-depth features on important crossover events. Hundreds of entries have been added or expanded for the new edition, which also covers recent events such as Judgment Day, Empyre, and War of the Realms, all illustrated with art from the comics. The 512-page, 10” x 12” hardcover will go on sale on October 8, 2024, with an MSRP of $45.00.
Marvel Encyclopedia Collector’s Edition features a different version of Marco Checchetto’s cover art and comes with a deluxe clamshell case containing an exclusive print and a 32-page comic-format booklet with variant covers and commentary on the past five years’ worth of crossovers. The book will be printed on high-quality paper and will have a ribbon bookmark. It will be released on November 26, 2024, with an MSRP of $150.00.
