Oni Press will publish The Summoning, a three-volume graphic novel series based on the hit animated short from Fred Seibert's FredFilms and Sony Animation (see below). FredFilms is the independent studio behind Castlevania, Adventure Time, and The Fairly OddParents, along with less mainstream titles like Superf*ckers (see "Superf*ckers Animated").
Like the video, which now has over six million views, the graphic novels are created by Elyse Castro.
The Summoning Vol. One: The Art of the Craft tells the story of a young practitioner of magik who creates art pictures that are capable of coming to life and wants to attend Ridgewood Coven to learn more. In order to be admitted, she needs to advance her skills.
"The Summoning is a story of friendship and wonder, where Claire will face numerous challenges to overcome her own insecurities and discover what it truly means to be herself as an artist," Oni Editor-in-Chief Sierra Hahn said of the upcoming release.
The 248-page first volume will be released October 7, 2025.
