FanRoll by Metallic Dice Games is expanding its line of luxury upgraded components for the game of Catan with its Catan Masterpiece Series, set to release this December.
Expanding on the accessories offered last year (see “ACD Games Day 2024 News: FanRoll Unveils ‘Catan’ Accessories Line”), the Catan Masterpiece Series will feature enhanced and upgraded versions of nearly every component used in the game, in a variety of materials and levels of enhancement.
Players can replace the standard playing pieces with new pieces inspired by ancient civilizations, available in both plastic and metal versions, or with metal versions of the classic Catan settlements, cities, and roads. The dice can be swapped for sharp-edged resin or died bamboo, both sporting hexagon-shaped pips instead of the traditional round and featuring the word Catan on the one-face. The robber can also get an upgrade, with resin, metal, and semi-precious stone versions of the robber pawn.
The board itself can be given a facelift with replacement tiles crafted from painted wood, resin with embedded sparkles, or semi-precious stone versions. The tiles are designed with a recessed socket to hold upgraded number discs, available in metal or acrylic. A border made from wood or sparkle resin can be used to bind the board tiles together, and a set of three-dimensional ships can be used to replace the ports.
FanRoll is funding the project through a Kickstarter campaign that, as of this writing, has attracted $206,249 in support from 817 backers (an average of $252.45 per backer) with 29 days remaining in the campaign.
FanRoll has recently offered luxury components for HeroQuest (see “FanRoll Unveils ‘HeroQuest’ Accessories”) and Dungeons & Dragons (see “FanRoll Will Release ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Masterworks’ Accessories”) as well as a Valentine’s Advent Calendar (see “New ‘Valentine’s Advent Calendar’ Rolls to Retail”).
