North Star Studio will launch Nature, a new strategy game, at Gen Con 2025.
Nature is one of the more highly-anticipated board games of 2025, which raked in $853,907 on Kickstarter from 6,941 backers (about $123 per backer. The strategy game, designed by Dominic Crapuchettes, is a redesign of the hit board game Evolution (see "'Evolution'"). In this game, players take control of different species looking to grow their populations. Along the way, players' animals can pick up adaptations to help them grow.
The main difference between Nature and Evolution is that Nature is more streamlined and has a modular system that allows players to add and subtract different expansions to create unique ecosystems to play in. This increases the replayability of the game and offers players a fresh game on each play through. The game is for one to four players, ages 10 and up, and plays in 30 to 45 minutes.
At Gen Con, North Star will be offering the first 50 customers each day a module of their choice for free from their booth. They were also offering over 700 demo slots for Nature (which are sold out), a Launch Party event, and a U.S. National Championship event with a $400 prize pool.
