Grendel: The Game of Crime and Mayhem was first previewed at GAMA Expo 2025 (see "New 'Grendel' Board Game Unveiled"). The game was designed by Alara Cameron and Sen-Foong Lim and is based on Matt Wagner's comic book character (see "‘Grendel’”).  In the new board game, Grendel fights for control of New York City against the Mob, Police, and his werewolf nemesis, Argent. 

Each faction has its own mechanics. Grendel plays the game as a Bag Builder, pulling chits from his bag to inspire fear throughout NYC. Argent's mechanics are Push Your Luck, where he builds a deck to ambush enemies. The Mob has Dice Allocation mechanics, and The Police play on a Rondel to arrest their opponents. There is also a Tower mechanic that triggers as Aggression tokens are added.

Matt Wagner will also provide new artwork for the game. It is for two to four players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 30 minutes.
