Two industry veterans are launching new creative services agencies just ahead of Comic-Con.

Former Batman editor Joe Illidge has launched Illuminous, a production and creative services company that will focus on working with creators to build their stories strategically with an eye to developing them out for other media, including film and television.  The company's current projects include Xero, the film based on the DC Comics series by Christopher Priest and ChrisCross (see "50 Cent Takes on Christopher Priest’s ‘Xero’"); Winterfields, a graphic novel by Illidge and ChrisCross (see "Milestone Veterans Launch New Graphic Novel"); and the sci-fi thriller Posthuman.

Massive Publishing Co-Founder and former President Kevin Roditeli, who left the company in March (see "
People on the Move"), has launched Roditeli Productions, which will act as a partner to publishers, creating ready-to-publish material based on original content and licensed properties, such as Sean Murphy's Zorro: Man of the Dead, which Roditeli co-published with Massive (see "Massive to Publish Updated Take on ‘Zorro’"). "Having been in the publisher's seat for years, the hardest part is balancing daily operations while trying to build ambitious projects that could shake the industry without disrupting the regular publishing schedule," Roditeli said in a statement accompanying the announcement.  "I'm offering what I'm good at—making big events."

Roditeli Productions' first project will be a comic based on a cult-favorite cartoon from the 1990s. The original creators are involved; more details will be announced before Comic-Con in San Diego in July 2025.
